ROCK HILL, SC - Carson-Newman will enter this week's Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Tournament as the seventh seed, conference officials announced Sunday. The tournament will be Friday and Saturday at Holt Fieldhouse. Quarterfinals will be played on Friday, with the semifinal on Saturday morning. The championship match will be 6 p.m. Saturday.The championship match will be webstreamed and available to watch over the Internet. Top seed Wingate (14-0 SAC, 30-1) will face eighth-seed Mars Hill College (0-13, 13-18) in one quarterfinal match on Friday at noon. Second-seed Tusculum College (11-3, 24-9) will face Carson-Newman (21-10, 4-10 SAC) at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Catawba College (8-6, 24-7) is the third seed and will face sixth-seed Lincoln Memorial (5-8, 19-14) at 3:30 p.m.The other quarterfinal match will see fourth-seed Newberry (7-7, 14-8) taking on fifth-seed Lenoir-Rhyne (6-8, 18-15). The two semifinal matches will be played Saturday at 11 a.m.The championship match is set for 6 p.m. Wingate is the defending tournament champions.The winner of the tournament receives an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship tournament.
