Aug. 16, 2007 ROCK HILL, SC - The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles have been picked to finish fifth in the South Atlantic Conference in the 2007-2008 season, according to a vote of the league's eight head coaches. The Eagles placed two on the preseason All-Conference team. Kelli Sorensen, a returning first-team All-Conference selection, made the first team, while Katie Troyer an All-Freshman pick last season, is on the second team. Sorensen led the Lady Eagles with 394 kills in 2006 while Troyer had 73 blocks to lead the team in that category. The Lady Eagles open the 2007 season in Harrogate, Tennessee at the Lincoln Memorial University tournament and host their first home match on Wednesday, August 29 at 6:30 p.m. against Concord College. The Food Lion SAC Tournament will be held at Carson-Newman on Friday, November 9, with the finals on Saturday, November 10. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Tournament.
