JEFFERSON CITY, TN-- The Carson-Newman volleyball team kicked off their spring season playing in the Katie Beach Volleyball tournament Saturday March 31st hosted by Virginia Intermont College. The Eagles played five different teams throughout the day and came away with victories in 8 of 10 games.

"Playing all day was good for us. We have a large squad size this spring which allows everyone to practice in their position. The only position we are slim in is the middle with transfer Heidi Breitenfeldt not being eligible until the fall due to her redshirting. Both our setters got great on-court experience. I was pleased our team had the opportunity to play Saturday in memory of Katie Beach." Coach Shannon Mincey said.

The Eagles will face two DI schools on April 14th as they play host to a spring tournament with Western Carolina University, East Tennessee State University, Tusculum College, Virginia Intermont College and Lincoln-Memorial University attending. Carson-Newman will play at 10am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm and 3:30pm.

The Lady Eagles will end their spring season playing in an intrasquad scrimmage on April 20th at 7pm.

"We always start and end our season with a Blue and Orange Scrimmage which promotes fun competition between team members. The players really get up for trying to beat one another," said Coach Mincey

The public is welcome to both the April 14th and April 20th matches.
