JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.-- The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles swept Brevard, 3-0 (30-24, 30-18, 30-21) to conclude the regular season series between both teams. The Lady Eagles (18-7) hit a match best .275, including a .559 hitting percentage in game two. Kelsey Fleck and Kelli Sorensen reached double figures in kills in consecutive games. Fleck led the Lady Eagles with 13 while Sorensen added 10. Caitlin Schlegel had a season best nine kills. Bruna Rasuck collected 20 assists while Stephanie Cutter provided 17 to conduct the Eagle offense. Defensively, Nikki James' six solo blocks three block assists helped hold Brevard to a .047 hitting percentage in the match. Salem Stepp posted 14 digs to lead C-N in that category and Haley Bush's two service aces led all players. "Brevard has an up and coming team. We were pleased to get this win tonight as Brevard has defeeated a couple teams in our conference and taken several others to 5 games. I was pleased with how our players really stepped up tonight against them. Nikki James shut down alot of their hitters by blocking alot of balls. I believe that really took them out of their offense. We have Newberry on Saturday and that is a BIG hurdle for us to jump. Newberry has tough hitters and scrappy defense." says Coach Mincey The Lady Eagles return to Holt Fieldhouse for a 2:00 p.m. match on Saturday, October 20 against Newberry.
