JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.-- Carson-Newman posted a 2-1 lead, but Lenoir-Rhyne rallied to win Game 4 and claim the decisive Game 5 in a 3-2 win (26-30, 30-13, 30-23, 23-30, 11-15) over the Lady Eagles at Holt Fieldhouse. C-N (15-3, 1-3 SAC) lost the first game, but came back with a resounding game two win. The team hit .440 for that game as Carly Mozgai and Kelsey Fleck paced the Eagle offense. The team garnered 12 kills in 25 attacks. C-N defeated L-R 30-23 in game three behind a .333 hitting percentage. L-R (12-9, 2-3 SAC) took advantage of C-N's struggles in game four, winning 30-23 to force a fifth game. C-N tied L-R 8-8, but the Bears claimed the necessary seven points to win 15-11. "We just didn't do the little things to get it done," setter Stephanie Cutter said. "This would've been a really big win in our region and conference, but hopefully we'll learn from it and get a win next time. Cutter led C-N with 31 assists while Mozgai collected 14 kills to lead the Lady Eagles in that category. Haley Bush led C-N with 14 digs while Salem Stepp had four service aces. The Lady Eagles return to SAC action on October 2 at Mars Hill before returning to Holt Fieldhouse on October 5 to face Wingate.
