JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- Lady Eagle Volleyball Coach Shannon Mincey announced Friday that North Carolina native Carly Mozgai has signed a national letter of intent to play at Carson-Newman. Mozgai, an outside/middle hitter from Greensboro North Carolina was a standout and voted "Best Offensive Player" at Northwest Guilford High School, playing under coach Darlene Joyner. Mozgai was selected as all-conference and was a member of the Metro Conference All-Star Team. She helped lead her high school team to four conference and tournament championships, as well as being part of a team that holds the school record for longest winning streak at 32 games. Mozgai also led her team to semifinal and quarterfinal finishes in the North Carolina State Tournament. She holds the school record for most aces in a season with 181. Mozgai plays for the Piedmont Volleyball Club, which is a highly respected club in North Carolina that regularly makes appearances in national tournaments. "I feel like I have known Carly for a long time," said Lady Eagle Head Coach Shannon Mincey said. "I have been recruiting her (and her family) for almost a year and am thrilled to know she will be playing for us. She is a high leaper and a very aggressive hitter. I expect Carly to serve an immediate role on our team. She is a very well-rounded young lady who has a lot of other extra curricular interests which make her stand out."
