JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.-- Carson-Newman men's and women's tennis teams participated in the 2007 Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships for NCAA DII schools in the southeast region. The defending NCAA DII national Champion, Lynn University (men) of Boca Raton, Florida, headed up the field which included 64 men and 64 women in the singles competition and 32 men's teams and 32 women's teams in the doubles competition.

In men's singles, Jack Harvie (sophomore, Statham, GA) and Trent Slagle (freshman, Knoxville, TN) turned in good results. Harvie advanced to the round of 32 in the main draw. He posted a 6-1,6-7,10-3 win over David Fairinez (St. Leo) before losing to Diego Rodriguez , the 9th seed from Lynn University by a score of 6-1,6-2. Slagle lost a tough first round match by the score of 4-6,7-6,10-7 to Greg Heartt (Florida Southern). He then proceeded to advance to the quarterfinals of the consolation draw. Slagle defeated Alex Zara (Lynn) 6-3,6-4 and Colton Jacobs (Eckerd) 6-4,6-2 before losing to Andy Johnson (Rollins) 6-0,6-2.

In women's action, Amanda Bartlett (sophomore, Powder Springs, GA), Taryn Cappadona (freshman, Kennesaw, GA), and Stephanie Douglas (freshman, Knoxville, TN) posted a few wins in the consolation draw. Bartlett reached the semifinals of the consolation draw before losing . In addition, Bartlett and doubles partner, Liz Sneed (sophomore, Kingsport, TN), won a first round main draw match over Luthman/King (St. Leo) 8-0 before losing in the round of 16 to the 1st seeded team of Korotkevich/Talalenko (NOVA) 8-4.
