WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 17, 2008) - Christine Roser went 3-5 as the Tars split a doubleheader against the Carson Newman Eagles. The Tars won the first contest 2-0, but fell in an 11 inning match-up 3-2 on Monday evening at Lake Island Park. The series brings Rollins' record to 15-9, while Carson Newman moves to 24-4.

Roser led the way for Rollins going 3-5 with one run and one double. Missy Thogmartin went 2-6 with two RBI, while Sherri Rabenold had a 3-7 day scoring two runs with one stolen base. In her comeback from illness, Jamie Rausch went 3-8 with a double and third baseman Monica Meadows tallied two hits in seven at bats with one RBI.

Nicole Anderson picked up the game one win as she pitched seven innings in the circle walking five and striking out nine. Rachael Foster received the second game loss as she threw 11 innings giving up three runs on five hits, while striking out 16 Eagle batters.

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Tars and Eagles were in a 2-2 deadlock until the top of the eighth inning when Carson Newman second baseman Whitney Hickam drilled a two-run homerun, her second of the year. The Tars battled back in the bottom of the eighth as Thogmartin hit a sacrifice fly to right field to send home Morgan Frost, 2-1. Meadows next doubled to centerfield bring home Rabenold and tie the score at 2-2.

The score would stay the same until the top of the 11th inning when the Eagles third baseman Mandy Stevens doubled to centerfield to send home Jessie Howard and put Carson Newman up by one, 3-2. The Tars would not recover from the deficit and fell to the Eagles 3-2 in the 11th inning.

Zoe Heim worked three innings of scoreless relief for the win in Game 2.
