Angus Is SAC Player Of Year

ROCK HILL, SC--Rebecca Angus, a senior forward from Middlesborough, England who led the South Atlantic Conference in scoring with 1.23 goals per match, was named the 2006 South Atlantic Conference women's soccer Player of the Year, earning the award for the second time in her career.

Angus led the Lady Eagles with 17 goals this season. She also led the SAC in assists and points per game.

Carson-Newman's Phil McNamara, who guided the Lady Eagles to their third conference title in four years, was selected Coach of the Year. He wins the award for the second time in his career.

Joining Angus on the All-Conference team were midfielder Brittany Moore and defender Julie Nelson on the first team. Forward Christie Murray, midfielders Erica Stegner and Zarmena Kasparites and defender Stacey Thomas were named to the second team.

The Lady Eagles open the first round of the 2006 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference tournament against Lenoir-Rhyne.
