Jan. 18, 2007 Lady Eagle Soccer Wins, 4-0 Courtesy: Wingate Sports Information Office WINGATE, NC--Carson-Newman senior forward Rebecca Angus (Middlesborough, England) scored two goals and tallied an assist to lead the number 17 Eagles to a 4-0 South Atlantic Conference women's soccer victory over Wingate University Saturday evening at the WU Soccer Complex. Angus scored both of her goals in the first half as the Eagles took a 2-0 advantage at intermission. Katie Perea and Zarmina Kasparites scored second-half goals for Carson-Newman. Eagle goalkeepers Melissa Terrell and Nyssa Griffin combined on the shutout. The Eagles outshot the Bulldogs 22-8. Terrell had four saves, while Griffin notched one save. Carson-Newman is 12-1 overall and 5-1 in the SAC. Wingate is 10-6 overall and 2-4 in the SAC. The Bulldogs host SAC foe Tusculum College Thursday at 3 p.m. The Eagles step out of the league to visit Maryville (Tenn.) College Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
