Jan. 18, 2007 C-N Falls To Tusculum JEFFERSON CITY, TN-- Tusculum scored two first half goals and held off a late Lady Eagle rally as Carson-Newman lost their first game of the 2006 season, 3-2, snapping their nine-game winning streak. C-N (9-1, 2-1 SAC) was forced to play from behind after TC's Courtney Hambel scored the first goal at the 12th minute and Kelly Barron scored at the 25th minute. Although the Lady Eagles outshot Tusculum 6-4 in the first half, they were unable to score a goal in the first 45 minutes. After Tusculum increased their lead to 3-0 in the second half, the Lady Eagles finally scored when Zarmena Kasparites kicked a shot just over the head of TC keeper Whitney Wardrop at the 54th minute. The Lady Eagles stepped up their attack, garnering 10 corner kicks. C-N cut the deficit to one when Jessie Stephens kicked a perfect cross to a streaking Brittany Moore for a Lady Eagle goal at the 85th minute, but TC held off the Carson-Newman rally to preserve the victory. Becky Angus led C-N with six shots while keeper Nyssa Griffin had two saves in goal. C-N outshot Tusculum 21-9 in the match. The Lady Eagles look to get back on the winning track when they take on SAC foe Mars Hill at McCown Field on Saturday, September 30 at 2:00 p.m.
