BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles concluded their Florida trip with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Lynn University on Tuesday.

Two defensive lapses on corner kicks contributed to both Carson-Newman first-half goals. An unmarked Julie Nelson easily headed in a ball at the back post to put the Lady Eagles up 1-0 in the 15th minute while a failed clearance by the Fighting Knights defense off the second corner was shot inside the left post by Kellie Gustin in the 31st minute.

Lynn cut the lead to 2-1 in the 36th minute when Shea Kinzer was whistled for a hand ball inside the box. Brittany Evernden's scored the penalty kick to reduce C-N's advantage to one goal

For the game, Lynn outshot Carson-Newman 11-9 but fell behind in corner kicks 6-3. LU's Natalie Feller registered two saves on the afternoon while Nyssa Griffin and Melissa Terrell combined for five stops.

The Lady Eagles end the regular season at Newberry on Saturday, October 27th at 2:00 p.m.
