Nikki Brannen Scored Two Goals In Win Against Wingate

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.-- Nikki Brannen scored her second goal in the 72nd minute as the Carson-Newman Lady Eagles defeated Wingate, 3-1 in South Atlantic Conference action on Sunday.

The Lady Eagles (11-3, 4-2 SAC) dented the scoreboard first when Julie Nelson scored off a rebound in the 28th minute. Brannen gave the Lady Eagles a two-goal advantage in the 61st minute with her first goal of the afternoon off a Zarmena Kasparites assist.

Wingate's Kerstin Williams kept the Bulldogs in the game with a header goal in the 71st miute off a corner kick delivery from Katie Bullard to cut C-N's lead to 2-1, but Brannen dashed any hopes of a Wingate comeback with her second goal. Melissa Terrell earned the win in goal for the Lady Eagles with one save while WU's Kathryn Smith saved four shots.

The Lady Eagles host Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday, October 17 for their final regular season home contest at 3:30 p.m. The Bulldogs travel to South Carolina to take on Coker College on Saturday, October 20.
