MARS HILL, N.C. - Alicia Blaha scored twice and Claudia Cala recorded her season high 13 saves to lead the Lions to a 3-2 victory over Carson-Newman College in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium Wednesday night. The Lions improved to an even 6-6 overall and 2-2 in the SAC while the Eagles fell to 9-3 overall and 1-2 in the league. Brittany Moore gave C-N a 1-0 lead at the 7:44 mark on a through ball from Morgan Gruenenfelder (Sweetwater, TN). Blaha tied the match at the 22:41 mark off a deflection. Shea Kinzer gave the Eagles a 2-1 advantage in the 28th minute scoring off a header from a corner kick by Zarmena Kasparites. The teams carried that score into the locker room at halftime. Tabatha Woodson knotted the match at 2-all when she blasted a goal past the Eagles keeper from about 35 yards out at the 61:51 mark. Five minutes later, Blaha notched the match winner on a through ball from Riley Dorsey. Cala played all 90 minutes in goal for MHC and faced 27 C-N shots. Nyssa Griffin also played the entire match in the net for C-N and made three saves facing 10 shots. The Eagles had the advantage of 10 corner kicks while the Lions did not have a single one.
