JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.-- The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles fell to Lenoir Rhyne, 2-1. The loss puts Carson-Newman at 9-2, 0-1 in conference play. After a scoreless first half, Carson-Newman got on the board first when Julie Nelson scored on a goal on a corner kick by Zarmena Kasparites four minutes into the 2nd half. Carson-Newman continued to dominate the game until Lenoir Rhyne scored on their own corner kick, with Lauren Rosch getting the point 75 minutes in. Lenoir-Rhyne would then take the lead 2-1 at the 87 minute mark with a breakaway goal by Rebecca Lin. "It just shows what a cruel game soccer can be sometimes," stated C-N Head Coach Phil McNamara. "You can dominate for 90 minutes and still lose a game. You have to play hard until the final minute. I was not disappointed with our girls' performance, just the result." C-N will seek to rebound from the tough loss this coming Wednesday when they will travel to Greeneville to face rival Tusculum at 7:00 p.m.
