JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.-- Sage Sizemore and Morgan Gruenenfielder combined for four of Carson-Newman's six goals as the Lady Eagles blanked Maryville College, 6-0.

The Lady Eagles opened the scoring in the second minute when Sizemore redirected a Claire Ramsdale pass into the net for a 1-0 C-N lead. Sophomore Jessie Stephens and senior Zarmena Kasparites scored unassisted goals in the 26th and 27th minutes, respectively, for a 3-0 halftime advantage.

The Lady Eagle defense led by keeper Shannon Clancy and defender Julie Nelson held the Scots to just one shot on goal and three shots for the game.

Sizemore continued the Lady Eagle onslaught with her second goal of the match in the 51st minute. Gruenenfielder rounded out the scoring with goals at the 63rd and 67th minutes, respectively for the 6-0 tally. Kasparites assisted the sixth Lady Eagle goal.

"We have to be very pleased anytime we win 6-0," head coach Phil McNamara said. "Sage and Morgan had two goals which is always great and I was pleased with Shannon Clancy earning a clean sheet in goal. Players got 90 minutes and that's very important as we prepare for our first conference game."

The Lady Eagles open South Atlantic Conference play at Brevard College on Saturday, September 15 at 2:00 p.m.
