ROME, Italy-- Coach Dean Walsh's USA Athletes International squad, featuring five Carson-Newman Lady Eagles, defeated the U19 Italian Champions, 67-35 in their first day of competition as part of USAAI's Women's Italian Experience.

"The girls played well," Walsh said. "We then spent the day seeing the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, and a few other things on the second day. We also travel to Pisa to see the Leaning Tower and will spend time in Tuscany."

Lady Eagles Emily Mason, Ashley Kyle, Tashea Ledbetter, Lindsey Eggleston, and Angela Volentine are participating in the week-long tournament.
