JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.-- The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles evened their record to 4-4 with a 75-55 victory over Lees-McRae and swept the Lady Bobcats in the season series. C-N shot 49% from the field and made eight of 17 three-pointers for their fourth straight win. Lees-McRae built an eight-point lead after Cortney Furr hit consecutive three-pointers, but Shari Buford converted a three-point play while Angela Volentine and Ashley Tipton hit back-to-back treys to cut the LMC lead to 21-20. A fast break layup by Buford and two Tykira McDaniel free throws gave C-N the lead for good at 26-25. C-N went on a 13-0 run to end the first half for a 38-25 advantage at the break. In the second half, the Lady Eagles continued to dominate the boards. Carson-Newman outrebounded Lees-McRae 52-26 in the game. Lindsey Eggleston led the Lady Eagles with 10 rebounds while Buford grabbed nine. Tipton opened C-N's second half scoring whith a three-pointer and Ashley Kyle followed with her lone trey of the night. McDaniel's layup with 13:32 remaining gave the Lady Eagles their largest lead of the game at 54-26. McDaniel led all scorers with 14 points while Volentine and Tipton scored 12 points each. Nikki James scored a career-high 11 points while Buford posted 10 points. Kyle paced the Lady Eagle offense with six assists while McDaniel keyed the defense with five steals. Carson-Newman continues their non-conference schedule before the Christmas break with a 6:00 p.m. game against Anderson University on Saturday, December 8.
