Nov. 6, 2007 KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Carson-Newman ended their exhibition season with a 91-30 loss to the No.1-ranked Tennessee Lady Vols Tuesday night. UT freshman Angie Bjorklund led all scorers with 23 points. Tennessee's defense held the Lady Eagles to nine points in the first half, the third fewest in UT history. Carson-Newman scored the first three points of the game before UT went a 16-0 run, snapped by Lady Eagle Ashley Kyle's short jumper in the paint. An ensuing 12-0 sprint by UT was again snapped by Kyle, who scored five of Carson-Newman's nine first-half points. Tykira McDaniel scored 10 points to lead Carson-Newman while Ashley Tipton added six points. "I was really pleased with our effort and rebounding in the second half," head coach Dean Walsh said. "We play these exhibitiions to develop our mental toughness. I want our teams to be known for their aggressive, physical play and mental toughness." The Lady Eagles now look to the regular season and will play top region foes North Georgia and Clayton State in the Eagle Club Classic at Holt Fieldhouse on November 16 and 17, respectively. Tip-off for the North Georgia game is set for 8:00 p.m.
