CULLOWHEE, NC-- Western Carolina,the defending Southern Conference champions, defeated Carson-Newman, 88-54 in the Lady Eagles' first exhibition game to open the 2007-2008 season.

The Lady Eagles were led by Ashley Tipton and Lindsey Eggleston with 12 points each. Senior Tashea Ledbetter contributed 11 points. Emily Mason garnered six rebounds to lead Carson-Newman in that category while Angela Volentine had three steals.

Carson-Newman will travel to Auburn, Alabama to take on the Auburn Lady Tigers on Sunday, November 4 at 3:00 p.m. before taking on the defending Division I national champions Tennessee on Tuesday, November 6.
