HICKORY, NC-- Stefanie Holbrook scored 28 points as the Lady Eagles held off a late L-R rally to defeat the Lady Bears, 81-79 to remain atop the South Atlantic Conference standings.

Holbrook connected on six-of-eight three-pointers which is one short of the C-N record set by Kandi Duncan against L-R on February 10, 1999. Tykira McDaniel and Shari Buford added 16 and 12 points, respectively, to key the Lady Eagle victory.

The Eagles scored 52 of their 81 points in the second half and rallied from a seven-point, second-half deficit to take the win.

McDaniel sparked Carson-Newmans rallying, scoring 14 of her 16 points after intermission and the Lady Eagles hit seven free throw attempts in the last 70 seconds to close out the contest. Ashley Kyle led the Lady Eagles with five rebounds while Ashley Tipton led the team with five assists.

The Lady Eagles will travel to Salisbury, North Carolina to take on Catawba at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27.
