Gabby Smith Position: Assistant Coach Experience: 2nd Year

Coach Gabby Smith begins her second season as an assistant coach at C-N. Gabby is a 2006 Carson-Newman graduate. Smith played under Walsh during the 2005 and 2006 seasons, leading the Lady Eagles in assists both years. Smith averaged 3.9 and 3.1 assists per game in '05 and '06, respectively. Smith started all 62 games as a Lady Eagle at the point guard slot. A tenacious defender and tremendous leader, Smith held her opponent to less than double figures in 59 games. Her defensive tenacity and leadership will be counted upon heavily by Coach Walsh and his staff. Gabby averaged 7.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2 steals her senior season. Her junior season she helped lead the Lady Eagles to their first ever "Sweet 16" appearance by averaging 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds.

Coach "G's" responsibilities will include being in charge of the academic program. Coach G is in charge of the point guards and will assist with recruiting.
