Cedar Falls, Iowa - The Carson-Newman Eagles dropped both of its matches at the 2008 NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals presented by CSG Sports Coatings on Saturday. The Eagles dropped their first match to top-seeded Nebraska-Kearney, 36-6. Kent Pierson picked up the win for the Eagles at 133, winning a 4-2 decision over Joe Morrison. Josh Sprewell added C-N's other win at 197, winning a decision over Justin McKain 5-2. The Eagles fell 24-12 to Wisconsin-Parkside in their second match of the duals. Pierson again won at 133, beating Parkside's Brandon Kircher 9-3 by decision. Kody Pierson also won for C-N, beating Cody Zimmerman at 125 in a 6-4 decision. Tom Minwell's pin of Sean Shanahan in the heavyweight spot was the highlight of the second match for the Eagles. Ashland University forfeited to C-N in what would have been the Eagles' third match of duals. Carson-Newman returns to action this weekend. The Eagles will travel to Campbellsville on Saturday for a tri-match with the host institution and Notre Dame College.
