JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman Eagles improved to 6-4 in dual meets with a 30-13 win over Cumberland University Tuesday night in Jefferson City. Justin Ransom and Marcus Lopez each recorded pins for the Eagles to lead the way. Ransom pinned CU's Eric Metzler in 6:01 to C-N the win at 165. Lopez had one of the night's most impressive efforts, pinning Corey Freeland in 2:04 to win at 174. The Eagles picked up four more wins by decision in the win. Carson-Newman returns to action this weekend. The Eagles will wrestle in Cedar City, Iowa on Friday-Sunday at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals. Carson-Newman will face top-seeded Nebraska-Kearney at 9 a.m. Saturday. C-N will face either Wisconsin-Parkside or Western State in its second match.
