May 24, 2007 JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.-- Junior tennis player Preston Sneed has been named a CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District award recipient. Sneed is a two-time All-Conference selection and was named Carson-Newman's most valuable player in 2006. This season, he earned the South Atlantic Conference Scholar Athlete award for men's tennis. He is a member of Alpha Chi national honor society and has studied in Mexico and Spain. He is president of Sigma Delta Pi, the national Spanish honor society, and a worship leader for a Carson-Newman based ministry. He also served as an intern in Washington, D.C. for Tennessee U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander. Sneed will now be placed on the national Academic All-American ballot. The Academic All-American team will be announced on June 12.
