Preston Sneed Earned SAC Scholar-Athlete Award

ROCK HILL, SC-- Carson-Newman placed three players on the All-South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis team. Senior Mike Swanson earned first team All-SAC honors while Preston Sneed and Matt Stanley were named to the second team.

Sneed, who has a 3.842 GPA as a Spanish and financial economics major, was named the Men's Tennis Scholar Athlete. The junior from Kingsport, Tennessee (Dobyns-Bennett High School) is a two-time All-Conference selection and was named Carson-Newman's most valuable player in 2006. He is a member of Alpha Chi national honor society and has studied in Mexico and Spain. He is president of Sigma Delta Pi, the national Spanish honor society and is a worship leader for a Carson-Newman based ministry. He served as an intern in Washington, D.C. for Tennessee U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander.

Stanley earned eight wins in singles competition for the Eagles in 2007 at #3 singles with five wins in #1 doubles. Sneed earned six SAC wins combined at #3 and #4 singles while garnering a win apiece at #1 doubles and #3 doubles. Swanson competed at #1 singles with a key SAC win against Wingate and #2 doubles wins over Tusculum and Wingate.

The South Atlantic Conference All-Conference Team is selected by the head coaches in the league.
