JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.-- Junior Nyemb's goal in the first half proved the difference as Wingate defeated Carson-Newman, 1-0 on Senior Day at McCown Field. The Eagles (10-2-2, 4-2-1 SAC) equaled the Bulldogs in shots, but couldn't find the net as Wingate's keeper Joey Calandra turned away all four of C-N's shots on goal. Omar Cooke had three shots while fellow forwards Kapil Davis and Jakop Storhaug had two shots apiece. The Bulldogs (13-2, 3-1 SAC) move into second place in the SAC standings with the victory. Defender Dane Hodge also had a shot on goal. Hodge and Davis, the two seniors on the 2007 squad, were honored in pregame ceremonies. The Eagles will travel to West Virginia Wesleyan on October 19 and Davis & Elkins College on October 21 before concluding the SAC regular season at Newberry on October 27. The Bulldogs travel to Hickory, North Carolina to take on Lenoir-Rhyne on October 17.
