SALISBURY, NC - Tenth-ranked Carson-Newman rallied for a pair of second-half goal and defeated host Catawba 3-2 in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Frock Field. The Eagles improve to 10-1-1 overall and 3-1 in the SAC, while the Catawba Indians fall to 5-7 and 1-3.

Carson-Newman grabbed the early lead just four minutes into the match as Everardo Flores (Silver Spring, MD) fired home a rebound from a shot by Thomas Ostvold (Stavanger, Norway). Catawba senior Ryan Villiard (Holiday, FL/Mitchell HS) would score twice for the Indians in the final 10 minutes of the first half to put the Tribe up 2-1 at the break.

Villiard's first goal came off a free kick as he curled the shot around the wall and into the upper left corner from 25 yards out to even the match in the 37th minute. Villiard would strike less than four minutes later as he took a through ball from Troy Brown (Burlington, NC/Williams HS) and fired under Eagle keeper Jordan Moore (Hendersonville, TN) for the lead.

Carson-Newman leveled the match in the 75th minute when Jakop Storhaug (Stavagner, Norway) headed home a corner kick from Marcus Cabralis (Trinidad & Tobago). The Eagles would go on top with nine minutes to play as Lars Holstad (Bergen, Norway) ran onto a long ball and chipped over Tribe keeper Tyler Held (Virginia Beach, VA/Kellam HS).

Moore finished with three saves for Carson-Newman. Held made six saves for the Indians.
