JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.-- The Carson-Newman Eagles remained undefeated after a 3-0 shutout of the University of Charleston at McCown Field Friday afternoon. The Eagles (4-0) held possession from start to finish and allowed just one Charleston shot on goal. Ale Oliveira began the C-N scoring in the 31st minute by taking a Jakop Storhaug pass into the net for a 1-0 Eagle lead. Just 25 seconds later, Omar Cooke weaved past the UC defense to score a breakaway goal for a two-goal Carson-Newman advantage. Kapil Davis notched his first goal of the 2007 season with a short flick off a rebound for the final 3-0 tally. Jordan Moore earned the shutout win in goal for the Eagles. The C-N defensive line of Thomas Ostvold, Everardo Flores, and Dane Hodge didn't allow one shot on goal in the match. UC's Brent Wilson garnered nine saves for the Golden Eagles. Carson-Newman now sets their sights on South Atlantic Conference play with their first SAC match at Mars Hill on Wednesday, September 12 at 7:00 p.m.
