JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.-- Omar Cooke scored his third goal of the season while Kapil Davis, Jakop Storhaug, and Brad Holdren added goals of their own in a 4-1 rout of Alderson-Broaddus on Friday night. C-N (4-1) outshot the Battlers 16-5 in the match and continued to set the tempo. Kapil Davis, making his first appearance for the Eagles in '07, outdueled an A-B defender and flicked the ball into the right corner of the net in the 19th minute for a 1-0 Eagle lead. Storhaug later redirected a Dane Hodge header into the goal for a 2-0 Eagle advantage in the 38th minute. Cooke ensured a fast start for Carson-Newman in the second half by splitting two defenders and scoring his only goal of the game for a 3-0 lead. Freshman Brad Holdren got into the act by launching a 15-footer into the net for a four-goal C-N lead in the 79th minute. Israel Toko ended C-N's hope for a shutout with a goal in the 86th minute for the final tally. "This was a good win for us," coach Allen Vital said. "The guys kept their heads and we were able to play everyone. Some of the new guys were able to show us a few things we didn't think about before for game situtations." The Eagles will take on another West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe on Sunday, September 2 when they face Salem International at 1:00 p.m.
