Andres Illescas enters his third season as assistant coach with Carson-Newman men's soccer. A 2000 graduate of Carson-Newman, Illescas earned All-South Atlantic Conference honors in 1999 and 2000. He spent his fi rst two seasons at Brevard College where he helped lead the team to the NJCAA national tournament in 1997. He has played professionally with Club Deportivo America and Liga de Loja in Ecuador. Illescas began his coaching career in his hometown of Quito, Ecuador as the head women's soccer coach at Universidad San Francisco. In addition to coaching, he has served as a co-producer and reporter for a sports radio show in Ecuador. Illescas is currently working on his master's degree in counseling at Carson-Newman. He also took graduate courses at Universidad Tecnologica de Monterrey at Quito and the Universidad Andina Simon Bolivar. Illescas is also working to earn his coaching license from the Argentina coaching association.
