Jefferson City, Tenn. -- Carson-Newman Golf Coach John Minor announced today the first two signees for C-N's newest sport, women's golf.

Jennifer Oliver (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Sarah Jane Sinard (Jefferson City, Tenn.) will join the Lady Eagles' program in the fall of 2008.

The 2008-'09 season will be Carson-Newman's first year of competition in the South Atlantic Conference and at NCAA Division II level.

"We're looking forward to next fall," Minor said. "These two players will have an immediate impact on this young program."

Oliver, a Knoxville Central High School product, will join the Lady Eagles as a freshman next fall.

"Jennifer has a chance to be a solid freshman for us," Minor said. "She's very talented and will contribute and compete immediately."

Sinard, a former standout at nearby Jefferson County High School, will be the program's first transfer. She comes to C-N after playing at both ETSU and Walters State.

"It is exciting to have a player of Sarah Jane's quality coming into this program in its' first season," Minor said. "She will immediately compete at the top of the SAC."

Both players have been accepted to Carson-Newman and will enroll in the fall of 2008.

Oliver and Sinard are not the first pieces put into place in the new the Lady Eagle program. Carson-Newman named former Lady Vol Holly Cantwell the women's golf assistant coach on December 4th.
