ORLANDO, Fla. - Senior Tyler Lane finished in a tie for 10th as the Carson-Newman Eagles finished 16th at the Coker Invitational, played Monday and Tuesday in Orlando, Florida. The tournament was played on the Orange County course in Orlando, which plays host to PGA Tour qualifying. "It was an honor just to play the course," Minor said. "I thought our guys played well against the strongest field we'll face this fall." Lane posted a two-day score of 142 (-2) to finish in the top ten. His 70 on Day 1 was C-N's low round of the tournament, which was matched by sophomore Brad Robinson on Day 1. The Costal Carolina-transfer finished strong in his second tournament as an Eagle, posting a 146 (+4). Freshman Blake Howard posted consecutive 74's, to finish tied for 52nd at 148. Freshman Chase Conn, playing in his first tournament, finished at 157, tying for 94th. John Minor, Jr. gave the Eagles a two-day 161. Saint Edward's took the team title, finishing at 562 (-14). Division II-powers Florida Southern and Barry rounded out the top three finishers, posting 567 (-9) and 573 (-3) respectively. The Eagles will return to action for a three-day event hosted by Columbus State beginning October 1st. Carson-Newman will travel to Columbus, Georgia for the AFLAC Cougar Invitational at the Bull Creek West Golf Club.
