JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman men's golf team has earned a spot in the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Tournament, the NCAA announced today. The Eagles will participate in the Southeast/Atlantic Regional, held May 5-7 in Mooresville, North Carolina. The tournament will be played at The Point Golf Club, a Greg Norman designed course. "(The course) is a great venue," Carson-Newman head coach John Minor said. "It will challenge each golfer in the event and will make for a great week." Carson-Newman is joined by South Atlantic Conference foe Newberry in the regional field. The Peach Belt Conference has six teams in the field, led by national powerhouse South Carolina-Aiken. Georgia College and State, Columbus State, Clayton State, Lander, and Armstrong Atlantic State round out the regional field. "We're pretty excited," Minor said. This is a deep, talented field, and our guys will have to be ready to fight and compete." C-N will play a practice round on May 4, followed by 18 holes each of the next three days for the 54-hole event.
