April 13, 2007 ETOWAH, NC-- The Carson-Newman Eagles finished second at the Independent Collegiate Invitational after firing a two-day score of 607, one stroke behind tournament winner Mount Olive College. Tyler Lane finished tied for second after an opening round 74 (+2) and a three-over 75 to finish two strokes behind the individual winner, Mount Olive's Scott Woodard. Joining Lane in the top 10 were Dane Fairfield, Cory Hinchey, and T.C. Baker. Fairfield finished at +6 after rounds of 76 and 74, respectively, to finish tied for fourth place while Cory Hinchey's 152 earned him a tie for sixth place. Baker opened the tournament with a seven-over 79, but recovered the second day with a 77 to finish in 10th place. Chad Grubb rounded out the Eagle contingent with a two-day 160 to finish tied for 16th place. The Eagles will next compete in the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championship at Lake Hickory-Catawba Springs Golf Club in Hickory, North Carolina from April 15-17.
