Golf 2nd at Queen City

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Carson-Newman Eagles posted an 11-over, one-day total of 299 at the Queen City Shootout, one shot back of event champion and host Belmont-Abbey.

The Eagles posted their best round of the fall season in the rain, before mother nature continued to intervene and washed out the second round.

Carson-Newman finished four strokes ahead of third place Lenoir-Rhyne in the 18-team event.

Junior Tyler Lane (Dayton, Tenn.) finished second overall, posting a 70. Lane finished one stroke back. Freshman Cory Hinchey (Abingdon, Va.) shot a 75 and finished tied for12th. Senior Dane Fairfield (Santa Rosa, Cal.) posted a 76 and finished tied for 16th.

The Eagles next tournament is October 23rd-25th at the LMU Fall Invitational at Woodlake Golf Club in Tazewell, Tennessee.
