GREENVILLE, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman Eagles fired a 294 in the one day, weather-shortened 2008 Tusculum Men's Golf Invitational held Sunday at Link Hills Country in Greeneville, Tennessee.

The Eagles finished fourth in the event, six strokes behind Shorter College.

The event was originally scheduled for two days, but was shortened to 18 holes because of snow on Saturday.

"I thought we played well considering," Eagles head coach John Minor said. "Its tough to gauge much from one round, but we were consistent as a team, and that's encouraging. We still need to find a way to be explosive"

Sophomore Brad Robinson led the Eagles with a one-under 71, finishing in a tie for sixth. The Johnson City native won last week's event, the Richard Rendleman Invitational in Salisbury, North Carolina.

Freshman Blake Howard put together an even-par 72 to finish tied for eighth.

Sophomore Cory Hinchey posted a three-over 75, finishing tied for 27th. Senior Tyler Lane and junior Chris Robertson each fired 76, good for 40th.

The Eagles return to action March 24-25 at the 2008 Bobcat Invitational Golf Tournament, played at The Golf Club at Cuscowilla, Eatonton, Ga.
