SALISBURY, N.C. - Sophomore Brad Robinson fired a two-day 139 to take medalist honors and win the 2008 Richard Rendleman Invitational at the Country Club of Salisbury, on Monday and Tuesday. The Carson-Newman Eagles fired 295 on back-to-back days for a two-day 590, good for 6th-place. Robinson was able to hold off USC Aiken's Roberto Diaz, North Greenville's Brandon Coggins, and Newberry's Daniel Stanley, all of whom finished at 140, to win by a stroke. "Brad is a talented, talented player," said Carson-Newman head coach John Minor. "His potential is unlimited, he just has to work hard to get better every week." Senior Tyler Lane finished in a tie for 35th, and was C-N's second-highest finisher. He shot 149, firing 72-77. Sophomore Cory Hinchey and freshman Blake Howard each finished in a tie at 46th, shooting 151 for the two-day event. Freshman John Minor, Jr. went 76-82 for a total of 158. "We're improving every week, but we didn't play very well as a team," said Minor. "Brad carried us this week. Had we turned it up a little, we could have finished much higher. I'm expecting more from this team." The Eagles will return to action in the Tusculum College Invitational played March 8-9 at the Links Hills Country Club in Greeneville, Tenn. .
