The Eagles Will Be Televised In Their First Two Games Of 2007

Aug. 14, 2007

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.-- The Carson-Newman Eagles will have their first two football games of the 2007 season televised regionally, C-N Athletic Director David Barger announced Tuesday.

Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS) will telecast the Eagles' first two games live in nearly six million homes throughout the southeast.

The first telecast is the Eagles' home opener with Virginia State on August 23rd. Carson-Newman beat the Trojans' 27-21 in 2006 in Petersburg, Virginia. The game will be played at C-N's Burke-Tarr Stadium.

The second telecast will be the following Thursday night (August 30th), as the Eagles face Tennessee-Chattanooga for the first time since 1920. The game will be played at W. Max Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Both telecasts begin at 7 p.m.

Zeke Beam, The Voice of the Eagles, will provide the play-by-play for both telecasts. Jim Vines, a former defensive back at Carson-Newman, will join Beam in the booth as the color commentator.

Carson-Newman, the preseason favorite to win the South Atlantic Conference, returns 17 starters from its 2006 squad that finished 8-3.
