JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- Fall is here. Finally.

The 2007 version of the Carson-Newman Eagles began practice over the weekend.

Ken Sparks' Eagles return 17 starters from a team that finished 8-3 in 2006, a far cry from the five starters the Eagles returned to start last season.

The team is slated to be in full pads for the first time on Tuesday. The first scrimmage is scheduled for Saturday at 3:45 p.m. in Burke-Tarr Stadium.

Carson-Newman opens its season in Burke-Tarr Stadium on August 23rd against Virginia State at 7 p.m. For tickets, call (865) 471-3396.
