JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman has received commitments from 27 student-athletes to attend C-N and play football for the Eagles head coach Ken Sparks announced Tuesday. As many as six wide receivers and four offensive linemen highlight a group that is expected to grow. "We're always excited that a new class is coming to Carson-Newman," said Sparks. "There are some talented young men in the class, and we look forward to them joining this program." The Eagles class is heavy on in-state signees early, boasting 16 names from the state of Tennessee. Florida is second with four. "Our staff has worked especially hard this season to help us meet some needs," said Sparks. "We've worked hard to get to this point, but we're still working hard. Recruiting is an endless process." Carson-Newman finished 10-1 in 2007, winning its 19th South Atlantic Conference title under Sparks.
