Catawba Outruns C-N

JEFFERSON CITY, TN-- Clay Scott scored 21 points, but Catawba's Chris Woolridge and Antonio Houston combined for 55 of the Indians' 112 points in a 112-107 South Atlantic Conference win over Carson-Newman at Holt Fieldhouse.

C-N (9-17, 2-13 SAC) shot 51% from the field, but the Indians (17-9, 12-3 SAC) maintained the up-tempo pace of the game. The Indians led 54-50 at halftime, but Darren Williams hit a three-pointer to open the second half to put the Eagles within one at 54-53. A Chris Woolridge dunk and an Antonio Houston three-pointer put Catawba up 59-53 with 17 minutes remaining in the game.

The Indians built a 10-point lead at 69-59 with 15 minutes to go, but the Eagles kept fighting. Late in the game, Jesse McMurray hit his fourth three-pointer to move the Eagles to within five points at 104-99 with less than two minutes remaining, but a Brian Graves steal and layup gave the Indians the lead for good at 106-99 with 1:03 remaining. Antonio Houston, Graves, and Rob Fields each made a pair of free throws in the final minute to give Catawba their 12th win in the SAC and 17th overall.

Carson-Newman concludes the 2006-'07 regular season against Wingate on Saturday, February 24 at 4:00 p.m.
