AIKEN, S.C. - The Carson-Newman baseball team takes to the road again this weekend for a three-game set at USC Aiken.

Today's first pitch is at 4:30 p.m at Roberto Hernandez Stadium in Aiken, South Carolina. Saturday's and Sunday's games are each set to start at 1 p.m.

Carson-Newman (5-1) faces a Peach Belt opponent for the second straight weekend. The Eagles took two of three games at Augusta State last weekend, and this week's series figures to be a good measuring stick heading into SAC play.

"This weekend will be a good test for us," Head Coach Tom Griffin said. "(USC Aiken) has a strong pitching staff and is explosive on offense. This will give us a good feel for where we are heading into conference play at Lincoln Memorial next weekend."

Senior Nick Achberger (Anderson, S.C.) is off to a fast start for C-N. He is batting .500 (10-for-20) with six extra base hits. His 4-for-4 effort in the Eagles' 9-3 win over Augusta State in the opener helped earn him SAC Player of the Week honors.

Carson-Newman will likely start senior Brett Hontz (1-0) in the weekend opener. Hontz picked up the win in C-N's season opener against the Jaguars.
