NEWBERRY, S.C. - Newberry College took No. 28 Carson-Newman College to extra innings in South Atlantic Conference action Sunday afternoon but was unable to pick up the win after allowing three tenth inning runs. With the loss the Indians dropped the three game series to the Eagles after splitting the doubleheader yesterday.

Newberry rallied in the bottom of the seventh with two runs to tie the score, 3-3. The Indians loaded the bases with two outs and scored two runs on back to back singles by Nick Martin (Morehead City, N.C.) and David Tunstill (Melbourne, Fla.).

Chris Bremer (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) went nine innings and allowed just one earned run but was unable to get the win as the Indians' bullpen allowed three runs in the tenth to the Eagles. Stephen Byrd (Vero Beach, Fla.) was charged with the loss for Newberry after allowing two base runners to start the tenth inning.

Langdon Potts, Wesley Dozier, Jason Gray, and Derrick Long each had two hits for the Eagles. Dozier finished with three RBIs.

Jake McDonald worked three innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win.

Tunstill was 2-3 with an RBI and Tyler Hartman was 2-4 with an RBI.
