April 2, 2007 KNOXVILLE, TN-- Aubrey Morris crossed the finish line first as the Carson-Newman Lady Eagles cross country team claimed their first meet title of 2006, winning the Volunteer Cross Country Invitational. Morris broke the tape at 19:51.94, more than five minutes faster than the second place finisher. Vanessa Gibson and Lisa Massey finished in the top ten to help C-N win the team championship. Gibson clocked in at 21:02.46 while Massey finished just 10 seconds later at 21:12.86. Cara Hawkins came in 16th place at 22:32.82 while Tiffany Winchell and Tori Stanfield finished 19th and 20th, respectively. Laura Young finished in 30th place with a time of 26:28.65. C-N will compete in the Belmont-Abbey Invitational this Saturday. This will be the last meet before they compete in the South Atlantic Conference championships on October 21 in Black Mountain, North Carolina.
