WINGATE, NC-- Aubrey Morris finished 5th at the Wingate Invitational for her second top ten finish of the 2006 season to propel the Carson-Newman Lady Eagle runners to a seventh place finish at the Wingate Invitational.

Morris finished with a time of 24:27 to lead the Lady Eagle runners and Lisa Massey finished 16th with a time of 25:42.

"Once the race got sorted out through the first mile, Aubrey positioned herself in front of a pack of 5 or 6 runners and just raced a little then pulled away and tried to latch onto a couple of runners ahead," Coach Whitney Lee said. " I like the way Aubrey is racing right now; she is holding her nerve and using her strengths as a benefit while on the course."

Cara Hawkins finished 46th, Tiffany Winchell placed 62nd, and senior Tori Stansfield finished 70th place while sophomores Laura Young and Heather Godwin finished 92nd and 99th, respectively.
